‘When Minutes Matter:’ Officials, Community Members Speak In Favor Of Cardiac Lab At Mmh

Improving patient access to cardiac services and reducing transportation time in an emergency was the common refrain from many who urged state health regulators Wednesday to allow for enhanced cardiac services at Manchester Memorial Hospital.

The hospital, owned by the for-profit Prospect ECHN, is seeking to expand its existing cardiac services by partnering with St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center’s Hoffman Heart and Vascular Institute to establish a diagnostic cardiac catheterization lab, primary percutaneous coronary intervention services, and elective percutaneous coronary intervention services — which include procedures to open narrowed arteries that supply blood to the heart — at the hospital.
